Volume 2: Making Sense of Our Story
This one’s all about living a more regulated life.
In a loud, fast, and often dysregulating world, Making Sense of Our Story helps us learn how to live from a steadier place 🎈.
This volume focuses on emotional regulation ... understanding what’s happening inside us, why we react the way we do, and how faith can meet us before we spiral into overwhelm.
Rather than fixing or suppressing emotions, these sessions invite participants to notice, name, and gently make sense of their inner world.
As we understand our stories, we discover that calm isn’t something we chas ...it’s something we practice, together, in the presence of God 🌱🎈.
Our stories live inside a much bigger and better one … where there’s so much for us to discover.

Workshop Lecture 1: Dysregulated? 🌊💔🚀
This one begins where most of us already are ... overstimulated, reactive, and quietly exhausted 😮💨.
This session introduces the idea of dysregulation: the state where our inner world gets knocked off center ⚖️ and our reactions start driving the story 🎭📖.
Lecture One sets a hopeful foundation 🌅✨.
Dysregulation is not a spiritual defect or a character flaw 🚫🧩; it’s a human condition that God already knows how to meet 🤍✝️.
This opening session invites participants to notice their own rhythms with kindness 🎶, recognize when they’ve drifted from center 🧭, and begin the gentle work of returning 🏡 ... not by force 💪, but by truth 🕯️, presence 🤍, and grace 🌿… all the way back to the root 🌱—the Story 📖 🎈.
Workshop Lecture 2: Mercy Has the Last Word 🤍🕊️📖
This week, we move from noticing our inner weather 🌦️ to listening for the voice that speaks over it. After naming dysregulation, we now turn toward mercy.
Lecture Two explores what it means to agree with God about who we are 👀🤝. Not the harsh narrator in our heads 🧠⚖️, not the highlight reel of our worst moments 🎞️💔, but the way God sees us through forgiveness already given ✝️✨.
This session names forgiveness as a pathway back to freedom 🕊️
Mercy has the last word 📖✨.
Workshop Lecture 3: The Lord Is My Shepherd I Lack Nothing 🎈🐑✨
This week we walked slowly through the green pastures of a simple but life-altering sentence:
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.” 🌿🕊️
We held that promise up next to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs ... that familiar pyramid of food, safety, belonging, esteem, all the building blocks of being human. 🧠📊 And instead of pitting it against the Kingdom, we just noticed something together…
One pyramid is real… but fragile. It can wobble when life gets loud. When jobs shift, bodies fail, or relationships fracture. 🧩💔
Then we looked at what we called a Kingdom hierarchy of needs ... starting not with scarcity, but with Shepherding. Not with striving, but with being held. 👑🤲
If the Shepherd is steady… the sheep can rest. 🐑💤
If the Shepherd provides… lack loses its teeth. 🍞💧
If the Shepherd leads… we don’t have to manufacture hope from scratch. 🌄✨
When hope starts there, everything underneath finds its proper weight and place. 🎈📖
Workshop Lecture 4: The Story of Church 🎈✨
This week we leaned all the way into a holy, freeing truth… we belong to a messy, beautiful Church .... and God isn’t wringing His hands about it. He’s holding it. All of it. 💒🤲
We talked about how the Church has scuffed knees, mismatched socks, and the occasional family disagreement at the dinner table… and somehow it’s still radiant. Still beloved. Still the place where grace keeps setting extra chairs. 🪑🍞
Nobody has to pretend here. We don’t belong because we’re polished ... we belong because we’re loved. And the wild part? Even when we feel alone, disconnected, or hiding in the back row… we’re still tethered to something bigger than our feelings. 🕊️🫶
Namely, a messy Church held by a steady God.
It means the story doesn’t depend on our perfection ... just our participation. 🎈📖
Sessions of Hope – Week 5: I Am Set Upon the Rock, God Steadies My Steps
This week we dive into the “window of tolerance” 🌊 ...that cozy sweet spot where our hearts feel steady and our minds can catch a breath. Sometimes life tosses us into the deep pools of “too much going on” 💥 or “all quiet, but stuck” 💤, and it can be tricky to find our footing again.
That’s where what we have learned so far comes into play!
The realities we’ve covered help us steer our hearts back to the Rock 🪨, God’s steady, unshakable love.
