| Lay Ministry
Present-day church sociologists have discovered that a pastor can effectivel y minister to about 90 - 100 people in a flock under his care. When the number goes beyond that figure, the care supplied to each individual member and the flock as a whole becomes less effective and less personal.
At CBTS, we believe God had directed us to train some of our laity to share some of the responsibilities of pastoring. They are called "Lay Shepherds." They are gifted and trained by the Senior Pastor to minister with a sensitive, personal heart.
We have divided the membership into several flocks. Following the example of Moses in Exodus 18, the Lay Shepherd will be in touch regularly with each family under his care, take care of any simple needs for which he feels competent, and refer to the Senior Pastor/Shepherd any concerns he does not feel ready to handle. Every member at Church by the Sea has a Lay Shepherd.
Servants Heart
Servant hearts is a group of dedicated volunteerswho meet weekly supporting a variety of activities. We support all Church by the Sea ministries by making, baking, sorting, organizing and lending a helping hand were ever needed.

Fellowship
We enjoy Social Hours after Morning Worship during the June through September months.
Our teens are involved in Madeira Beach Student Ministries.
We offer studies for men call the G.U.Y.S. (Gentlemen Under the Yoke of the Spirit). We provide sutdies for women call the G.A.L.S. (Growing and Loving through the Scriptures). We have a very active Christian Ministry-oriented "Red Hats" group called the "Sisters in Grace."
Red Hats Sisters in Grace
We are a Christian service oriented organization. We have fun as we plan occasional dinners, day trips and social hours. However, our main focus is on service and outreach to the members and friends of Church by the Sea and the surrounding community.
